Bracket Tag Rules
- Section Type always first — non-negotiable
- Vocal Direction is highest-weight element
- 6-word target, 8-word maximum
- [End] tag prevents runaway generation
- Numbered sections use hyphens (Verse-2)
- 65-80% contrast target between adjacent sections
- Suno 5.5 honors words 1-4 most strongly
Style Prompt Rules
- 160-210 character target for Suno 5.5
- Genre / Raga always first — front-loading matters
- Mood is more important in 5.5 than previous versions
- Raga chain resolves modifier ragas automatically
- Production Flavor is new — use it
- No lyrics, no commands, no artist names in Style Prompt
Instrumental Mode
- Suno trained mostly on vocal music — adds vocals by default
- Five-layer defense applied automatically:
- 1. [Instrumental] tag
- 2. (no vocals, no lyrics)
- 3. (no vocals throughout)
- 4. "purely instrumental, no vocals" in Style Prompt
- 5. [End] tag
- [End] tag is critical for short instrumentals
Common Mistakes
- 1. Skipping Vocal Direction → Add to every section
- 2. All sections sound the same → Vary Speed or Vocal Direction
- 3. Song runs to 7:59 and cuts off → [End] tag handles this
- 4. Instrumental gets vocals → Enable Instrumental Mode
- 5. Wrong genre output → Raga chain resolution fixes this
- 6. Style Prompt too short → Target 160-210 chars
- 7. Open-ended outro → Use Resolved, Measured, Subdued
